Nevada attorney general ordered to pay LPS’ legal costs

A Nevada judge has sanctioned that state’s attorney general for improper conduct after the state failed to come up with evidence supporting a lawsuit accusing Lender Processing Services of defrauding homeowners, Forbes reported.

The judge ordered the state to pay legal and discovery costs for LPS (now Black Knight Financial Services). An LPS attorney expects costs to come in at hundreds of thousands of dollars.

LPS settled “robo-signing” allegations with 46 other states for $120.6 million in February and is in talks to settle similar allegations by federal bank regulators for more than $200 million.
